It’s Fashion Week in New York and fashionistas are buzzing like little kids on Christmas Eve who ate too many of Santa’s cookies! Yes, this includes me – and if you’re reading this, you probably are, too!

The schedule for the week can be found at the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week website and of course, if you can’t be there, style.com will have the blow by blow details for us!

I am really looking forward to some of my old favorites:  Tadashi Shoji, BCBG MAXAZRIA, Naeem Khan, and definitely Diane von Furstenberg!  I am also looking forward to discovering some new favorites.  I am particularly excited to see the collection of Pamella Roland since her hot red gown on Miranda Lambert made my best dressed list at the Grammys.  Who’s collections are you looking forward to seeing?

Monique Lhuillier

Hardly ever one to disappoint; Monique Lhuillier's color theme included bright pinks and oranges with some ethereal wispy pieces in dreamy eggshells and golds.  The last couple of pieces presented - including the last dress in my wysh lyst included a surprise burst of maroon and even took my breath away. 

I'm a sucker for a short dress - or are those shorts? Is that a onsie???  Mmmm...

I'm s sucker for a great onsie, too...

It's Fashion Week! Jason Wu!

It's fashion week and I'm living on style.com looking through their slideshows!  I have to say I am not swooning this year - it's looking like a bad season of Project Runway so far. The garments look like they've just been thrown together at the last minute. So disappointing! I won't say what collections I've already browsed...

Finally, I found a couple of nice pieces presented by Mr. Jason Wu.  Just 3 great pieces out of 45, though!  That's not a good percentage.

I feel like continuing and looking some more now!  I will press forward believing I will find lots of pieces that will take my breath away and about which I can write good things!

Alice & Olivia

Alice & Olivia presented a photo montage in lieu of a runway show which is an idea I like.  They did, however, have a model with a platinum blond wig that kind of took away from the garments they presented except for a couple where she was wearing a white/silver ensemble that blended with the hair.  There were two different models so the looks that caught my eye were of course on the one that did not have the loud hair.  See my faves below!

Jason Wu

I am a really, really big fan of Jason Wu.  However, before I discuss his collection, I must speak up for all women everywhere...

WE ARE SO OVER PANTYHOSE!!!

Tights - hot!  Decorative hose - ok, maybe! Plain old granny pantyhose - NOT cute!

Whew! That felt good!  (I have occasionally have some slight feminist tendencies!)

Now that I have my little rant out of my system - I really liked the collection.  It was really edgy and kind of reminded me of The Matrix.  Jason clearly took the "red pill"!  I especially liked the dresses (big surprise right?).  They would have looked lots better without - well, you know! ;)

FASHION WEEK

Fashion Week is in t-minus 2 more days!  I hope one day to be an influential enough figure in the fashion community to be able to go and take part in all of the shows (and parties of course)!

Nicolas K. kicks off the week on Thursday followed directly by one of my favorites - BCBGMAXAZRIA. The week will end with Calvin Klein and my all time favorite designer - Ralph Lauren.  I'm also excited to see the lines from Vera Wang, Monique Lhuillier, LAMB by Gwen Stefani, DKNY, and Diane von Furstenberg just to name a few.  I also intend to get familiar with at least 3 designers with whom I am not now familiar.  Lots of commentary to come!
