Vogue Goes Digital!

Vogue has finally done it!  They have gone digital for you fashionistas on the go!  While the purist in me still longs to spend a lazy Saturday afternoon on the couch with a cup of tea and the latest copy of Vogue, I am still happy about this option for those times when life is just crazy and there is no lazy afternoon in my near future!

You can download the Vogue app for Kindle Fire, Nook Color, Nook Tablet, or iPad.  For more details, click the the vintage cover from 1957 below! I have the April issue downloaded and it is stunning - as expected!  Thank you, Vogue!

Valentino

It seems like just as I have become comfortable with wearing clothes that fit me and accentuate my curves, designers have started showing collections where the pieces are baggy and sometimes even matronly.  I guess modesty is "in"!  Valentino's Ready to Wear is one of several shows that left me with these thoughts.  I guess I'll have to stay in shape until fitted is "in" again!

Louis Vuitton

Paris had a million Ready to Wear shows! I wish I had time to write about them all!  For the Louis Vuitton show, Marc Jacobs had his team to create a simulated train station complete with steam and a fancy porter to carry the Louis Vuitton luggage.

The pieces were reminiscent of at time when everyone actually cared about the clothes they wear and traveling meant dressing up, not being comfortable.  The slouchy hat was a great accessory to hide your "bed head".  Don't get me wrong!  I'm in favor of being comfortable while traveling.  I am not in favor of being a bum while you're traveling.

Lanvin

Lanvin showed some pieces that were perfect for a day at the office and could easily be a cute dinner dress after work.  Bright colors were abundant and there were also some edgier pieces as well as some fancy ones that were probably better for couture but were nice eye candy!

John Paul Gaultier

I was at first a bit afraid that JPG was becoming conservative on me. Then I saw the graffiti, then the fur, then the bling! I am still very happy about having had the opportunity to see his exhibit when it was here at the Dallas Museum of Art so there are lots of faves from this collection!  I am clearly still totally #teamjpg

Issey Miyake

You were just not cool when I was in Jr. High if you didn't have a bottle of Issey Miyake fragrance!  I don't even remember how it smelled!  I just think we liked to say the name!  Here are my favorites for Issey Miyake's Fall Ready to Wear collection now that I'm done reminiscing!  Yoshiyuki  Miyamae did some cool experimenting with puffy coats and wool winter wear.  There were also some funky tights on the runway - I am a sucker for fun tights...

Hermes

Hermes did a funky take on menswear for women in their Ready to Wear collection in Paris.  I wasn't crazy about it as a whole and some of the models looked a bit - um - scary.  I did see some pieces that I really liked, however...

Elie Saab

One of my favorite things about fashion is those designers who have the ability to create new and beautiful pieces but still remain true to looks that are classic and sophisticated. Those were my thoughts when I was browsing through the Elie Saab collection!

Christian Dior

Christian Dior's Fall 2012 Ready to Wear was very conservative and beautiful! Some of my favorite looks are below...

Chanel

Even though I get that Chanel was going for an ice princess type theme, I am still disturbed about this makeup!  I still have favorite looks because - well it is Chanel after all!!!

Kanye West

I have finally started looking at the Paris Ready to Wear collections and I started with Kanye West.  I am a huge fan of rap music and also of Kanye.  (Yes, I know he's crazy - on that thin line between genius and insanity, but his music is hot and he is a gifted lyricist!)  However, I totally forgot that he has started designing clothes!

His first collection got slammed by critics but I liked it. The pieces were edgy and more suited for couture than ready to wear in my opinion. The collection this season is more cohesive and shows that is has grown as a designer.  Kudos to Kanye! Check out my picks below...
